DATDK is short for Dofus: Aux Trésors de Kerubim (aka Dofus: Kerub's Bazaar in the english dub), a french cartoon created by Ankama Animations, that first aired in it native France from January 13th 2013 to February 1st 2014. The series was produced by France TV and France 3, and again, its native country, aired in the France 3 tv channel, in its Ludo block (their program for younger viewers). The show has 1 season and 52 episodes.
DATDK is part of the greater Dofus franchise, which was first spawned from the eponymous MMORPG. Dofus itself, with its sister franchise Wakfu (which spawned from a cartoon of the same name, that even also aired in Ludo before its 3rd season, though Wakfu was for older audiences) and some other related Ankama projects, form the Krosmoz, being the biggest encompassing franchise overall (even if the name Krosmoz is less well known than the Dofus or Wakfu tags, it will be used to encompass this grand fictional universe/franchise because of its convenience.)
DATDK possesses complimentary novels (romans in french) aimed towards young readers, which are structured as if they were part of the show's episodes, some activity books for, again, younger fans, and lastly the Kerubim comicbooks (french BD) aimed towards a kind of older audience, made up of two volumes that showcase a more crude telling of the character Kerubim's youth. This BD is especially striking due to its shockingly gritty and more realistic artwork.
We also have to highlight the show's official site found at http://www.dofus-la-serie.com, some of the characters having figurines for Ankama's Krosmaster tabletop game, the show being in general tied to the greater Krosmoz ecosystem and of course, the Dofus Livre I Julith movie, that I'd rather treat separate from DATDK here, because it takes place after the show, but it is much darker, the main cast has changes and its not necessary to understand DATDK. Hence, this shrine only focuses on DATDK as it is, without the separate stand alone movie which also happens to be a sequel. (I also think it started production before datdk but I'm not sure..!)
What is the plot of DATDK?
Kerubim Crépin is an old ecaflip (krosmoz cat person) salesman that owns a bazaar full of incredible antiques, some are pretty, some are downright magical but all have their own entertaining stories behind. This shop is a must-see if you arrive at the merchant city of Astrub, despite being in its badly famed Quartier du Pas Perdus (Lost Steps Neighbourhood).
The old man got all these objects from his incredible exploits as an adventurer when he was young. Back then, he was an ecaflip of action: He has worked for a God, he explored the world, (even the moon, once), swashbuckled with fierce enemies that also made burst into laughter sometimes, had usual headbutts with his eternal rival, the always elegant Indie Delagrandaventure, and often tried to charm fellow adventurer, the strong-willed Lou, though she often ended up charming him instead...
But this is barely a sliver of his life! To learn more, just ask him: He is always eager to tell any curious person about his stories, especially to his enthusiastic son, 7 year old Joris.
They are also accompanied by their housekeeper, an incredibly witty young woman called Simone, and the eternally grouchy shushu (krosmoz type of demon) that possesses their house, Luis, and a colourful cast of neighbours and clients.
Fun, mystery, adventure, stupidity, thrills and complicated relationships are always present when Kerubim starts telling stories, often sitting in m his trusty armchair.
So you are curious about it.. Then, will you enter the bazaar?
Obviously, this page is very under construction... I know its current appearance leaves a lot to be desired LOL
While I harbour great love for the series, a mix of being too engrossed in my own interests plus me getting more disillusioned with the company behind the show make me uninterested to expand this page in the time being. I will say though, DATDK is one of my favourite shows ever, and I really like its main cast. I have yet to find a show that scratches the same itch! TDLR: I love the show, try to give it a chance if it's of your interest.
